A single vehicle collision occurred on I-83 North at Middletown Road in Parkton at approximately 8:44 p.m. Sunday.
According to investigators, a black 2014 Audi A6 was traveling north on I-83 south of Middletown Road at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the car and skid into the left guardrail. The impact then caused the car to spin out of control and cross over both lanes. It crashed into the right guardrail before coming to a stop on the right shoulder.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Maryland State Police say the driver's speed was a main factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
