BALTIMORE (WMAR) — A 37-year-old woman is dead following a double stabbing overnight Thursday in Northeast Baltimore.

Officers were dispatched to a home in the 3500 block of Chesterfield Avenue around 2:20 a.m.

Inside police found Theatra Bowman and an 18-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.

Both were taken to a hospital, where unfortunately Bowman died a short time later.

Police say a suspect was taken into custody inside the home.

On Friday, police identified the suspect as 41-year-old Marvin Vaughn of the 1600 block of East 32nd Street.

He has been charged with first and second degree murder, attempted first degree murder and weapons charges.

Police didn't provide any details on a possible motive or what led to the stabbing.

The incident marks the city's first homicide of 2020, following a per capita record of 348 murders in 2019.
