As veterans are being celebrated throughout the state of Maryland, Mayor Catherine E. Pugh paused to join in on the celebration, On Friday morning she joined the Baltimore City Veterans Commission to commemorate the 12th Anniversary of the Baltimore City Veteran's Day March.
In a statement Mayor Pugh said, "Happy Veteran's Day to all who are and have proudly served our country's armed forces. Today we come together to honor the men and women who have dutifully protected our freedoms as members of the United States military, and to reaffirm Baltimore's commitment to veterans. Whether you know someone who is currently deployed, or see someone who has served, please take a moment to say "thank you." In addition to our gratitude, Baltimore is committed to providing the care and support that all veterans deserve."
The local celebration in Baltimore began around 9:00 a.m. with the laying of the wreath at the Washington Monument. After the parade, the Annual Veterans Day ceremony at the War Memorial Plaza began.
