BALTIMORE, Md. — A breakthrough in the field of medicine was accomplished right here in Maryland.

An unmanned aircraft successfully delivered a kidney for transplant to surgeons at the University of Maryland Medical Center. The donated organ was then used in a successful transplantation into a patient with kidney failure.

"Using technology like this will be able to move organs faster, and on demand, it will be safer for recovery teams and certainly cheaper," said Dr. Jospeh Scalea.

Doctor Scalea calls the current system used to move organs broken and is glad to see that technology is changing that.
