BALTIMORE — Nearly 200 families not able to afford toys.

However, some will be able to surprise their children with some awesome gifts.

On Saturday, families picked up the toys at the Toys-for-Tots Giveaway.

The Baltimore Police Department handed out the gifts hoping to make a child smile and leave a lasting impression.

“What better way to build a relationship with the youth of Baltimore than to give a child a toy by members of the Baltimore Police Department and our chaplains, and our auxiliary officers? All of us working together as one team to build relationships. Sometimes those memories will be lasting memories that the toy they received, the bike they received actually came from a member of the police department,” said Commissioner Michael Harrison.

They were able to donate 355 bikes through their toy drive that will be spread out throughout the community.
