Paying for college just got a whole lot easier for a Dunbar High School junior.
Taylor-Lee Neal won the $40,000 Henrietta Lacks Scholarship, presented by Johns Hopkins Medicine. The scholarship was awarded in a surprise ceremony full of pageantry at the school.
"I am just so thankful and so blessed and I just want to say thank you," Neal said. "That's all I can say."
Neal said she currently has two schools in mind, Johns Hopkins and Howard University.
Established in 2011, the Henrietta Lacks East Baltimore Health Sciences Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School to pursue a career in science.
