A statue placed in Wyman Park after the Lee-Jackson Monument was removed was toppled Thursday afternoon.

The artist behind the sculpture, Pablo Machioli told ABC2 News that the reaction of the people is more important than his response.

Baltimore City police said investigators are aware of the vandalism and are searching for the suspect responsible.

Update based on numerous calls. Vandalism on statue is old. The statue is not secured on the base of the former monument.
