A ribbon-cutting ceremony for a Baltimore senior housing center that burned down during riots last year will be held on the anniversary of the fire.

Southern Baptist Church pastor Rev. Donte Hickman said in an email Tuesday that the ceremony for the Mary Harvin Transformation Center is set for April 27.

The center, which houses 61 units of affordable senior housing with counseling and job training space, was about 45 percent complete when it destroyed. The fire broke out during riots that following the funeral for Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man who died after he was injured in police custody.

The Baltimore Development Corp. said in November that more than 400 businesses suffered property damage or inventory losses during the unrest, but most had reopened.
