A group of 72 inner city youth boarded a bus at Roberta’s House Friday to a grief camp.
Roberta's House is a family grief and loss center that works to support children, youth and adults dealing with the loss of a loved one, some due to violence.
The camp will allow the children to learn to cope with their loss in safe, fun surroundings while escaping the violence in their neighborhoods for the weekend.
"They are transformed in this short period of time. Not only with just being exposed to a new environment, but learning that no matter what life brings that they can get through it with the support of adults,” said the president and founder Annette March-Grier.
Camp goers will travel to north bay and will participate in grief work, arts and crafts, and adventures like zip lining.
