BALTIMORE — With the Preakness Stakes coming to Baltimore this weekend, the Baltimore City Department of Transportation is warning drivers of extensive road closures and traffic modifications in effect for Saturday’s race.

Attendees are strongly urged to carpool or use public transportation when attending the race. Those who are driving should park in commercial lots and not in the area neighborhoods. Posted parking restrictions will be strictly enforced as violators will be ticketed and towed. Cars that are towed will be taken to Clyburn Avenue, south of Northern Parkway.

Though most road closures affect travel near Pimlico Race Course, extra traffic of cars and pedestrians who came to town for the race, many potentially being unfamiliar with the city, may cause delays throughout Baltimore, and motorists are urged to be extra careful all weekend.

In terms of closures, the following roads will be closed or modified from 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 18.

For single-lane closures all weekend:
