The first two of the four protesters arrested at last Friday's rally and march for Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile are scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

The People's Power Assembly are holding a rally to call for charges to be dropped against Sara Benjamin and Meghan Flynn.

"We will be gathering to demand that all charges be dropped.  Demonstrating is not a crime and we content that the four protesters are innocent.  In addition, we will be announcing our intentions to file a complaint of excessive force." Rev. CD Witherspoon, civil rights leader and Peoples Power Assembly representative, said in a news release.

A second rally will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday night at the corner of 33rd Street and Greenmount Avenue to mark the one-year anniversary of the death of Sandra Bland, who was found dead in her jail cell in Texas days after she was arrested in a traffic stop after she refused to put out her cigarette.
