BALTIMORE — There’s a push to make sure Baltimore City residents and the homeless are protected during this COVID-19 outbreak.

Community activists said during the pandemic, the homeless were relocated into hotels, but may go back into shelters in August.

Housing Our Neighbors and The Fair Development Roundtable, wants shelter residents temporarily staying at hotels be moved to permanent housing.

"We are demanding that the city and state act to empty the shelters and we are going back. So, there needs to be a plan for permanent housing for all those who have been re-housed, and those still in need of housing."

They want the eviction moratorium set to expire on July 25, extended.

Activist also want at least $175 million from Maryland’s federal coronavirus relief fund to go toward rental assistance and eviction prevention.
