After many comments and concerns from the community, Mayor Pugh has decided to keep the MLK parade going and add the day of service to the festivities as well.
Pugh stated that their intentions were not to create an initiative against another, but rather allow members of the community to give back.
"...if people want to march down Martin Luther King Boulevard we’ll make sure that that happens, but we're also going to create a day of service because we've already got these organizations and individuals signed up for the Day of Service."
The mayor also concluded that she wants to make everyone happy in the city of Baltimore.
I've heard from residents who'd like to continue the tradition of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade & those who'd like to participate in a Day of Service. Why choose - we can do both! See you at the parade & visit https://t.co/UrASzmeXA3 to share volunteer opportunities! pic.twitter.com/HCuurnGEP8
