Project JumpStart and Habitat for Humanity Chesapeake kicked off their Workforce Development program Wednesday, welcoming the second class of Habicorps trainees.

Trainees learn valuable skills and receive intensive, hands-on experience in construction over the course of ten months while revitalizing vacant homes for Baltimore families in need.

After the program, trainees are placed with ABC Employers and receive an award toward apprenticeship costs.

"Just as excited we would be to see the faces of those families coming into this house, we're just as excited to see your faces walking into this new season of your life as far as your profession and your career," said Councilman Leon Pinkett III.

The eight trainees from the pilot program in 2016 successfully completed the program, and are all now employed.
