Police: Woman shot and killed in West Baltimore

BALTIMORE — Police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed in West Baltimore.

At about 6:06 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the 1600 block of W. North Avenue for a shotspotter alert.

When officers arrived to the area, they found in the 1800 block of N. Carey Street, 31-year-old Melissa Brown who was suffering from gunshot wounds to the neck and chest.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and was and succumbed to the injuries the following day.

At 10:09 p.m., officers were called to the 800 block of N. Fulton Avenue for a reported shooting.

There, they found a 39 year-old man who was shot in his leg. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
