Baltimore police identify woman struck and killed in west Baltimore Thursday. 

On May 31 officers responded to the 2600 block in Edmondson Avenue at Braddish Avenue for a reported serious crash involving a pedestrian.

Police said when officers arrived on scene they found woman, 72, severely injured. She was transported to an area hospital where she later died. 

During the investigation, police discovered the victim has the the right of way when a driver traveling eastbound on Edmonson Avenue failed to stop. 

According to police, the driver struck the pedestrian before striking a trash truck and a parked car.

The at fault driver was taken to an area  hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. The trash truck driver was also taken to the hospital and was released a short time later with minor injuries. 

Investigators suspect that the driver at fault was operating under the influence. 

Charges are forthcoming for the driver responsible for the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
