Officer Warren Benn has 16 years of service and officer Christopher Thomas has six years of service. Both are currently assigned to the operational intelligence section.

On July 14, 2016, officers responded to the 2300 block of Winchester Street after hearing gunfire. The officers located a suspect armed with an AR-15 style rifle. The suspect then opened gunfire on the officers.

The officers returned fire, striking the suspect. He was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased.

The suspect was identified as Dayten Ernest Harper.
