BALTIMORE — Marie Slack met a group of young men from Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. It was during the spring of the Baltimore riots.

One of the frat boys come over and said, “What can we do to help Baltimore?”

Marie said, “Come to church”.

So every Wednesday since, the Pike’s come down from their Towson campus on York Road to Old York Road to Blessed Sacrament Church.

There they do everything Marie asks.

Feed Govans? Check. Paint the doors of the church? Check. Put clothes on the backs of those in need? Check. Put in a garden? Check. How about church bingo? Bingo! And check.

When Wednesday’s come to an end, Marie gives each a hug. After all, she is the Grandma away from home.

Pike’s Peak, hasn't reached it peak in helping those in need. Nice job Pi Kappa Alpha.
