A fire broke out at an apartment building in the Northwood neighborhood of northeast Baltimore late Monday night.

Fire officials said the blaze broke out around 10:20 p.m. at 545 Wyanoke Avenue. The fire originated in the basement's boiler room. Officials say the boiler exploded. One person was injured and taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, which left the apartment's residents homeless.

Neighbors are working to put together a fundraiser for affected families.
