A thousand new jobs are coming to Maryland due to a new Under Armour distribution warehouse.
The warehouse will be in Sparrows Point in Baltimore County, on the site of the Bethlehem Steel mill.
Under Armour already has a distribution hub in Baltimore that employs 1,200 people.
The new warehouse will serve as the company's national hub to fulfill online orders. It's scheduled to open in the summer of 2018.
"Under Armour continues to take to heart their motto 'Protect this House' with the announcement of its new investment in Baltimore's Sparrows Point that will bring more good jobs to Baltimore, both now and in the future," Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Maryland, said in a statement. "The news is significant for our local and regional economies, and I applaud the company's decision to deepen its already strong hometown roots. I also have been consistently encouraged by the recent progress of Tradepoint Atlantic, where Under Armour is an anchor tenant, to deliver on a re-envisioned future for Sparrows Point. I look forward to hearing about even more successes at the site."
