New pop-up shops are appearing at Cross Street Market in Federal Hill this month.
Delectable desserts and satisfying soups are only a few examples of what you can expect to come to the new and improved market.
Cross Valley Partners (CVP) says the four new pop-up stalls are part of a redevelopment at the market.
“Our goal in bringing in these new pop-ups is to get a jump start on improving the current facility and to invigorate the market with new and complementary concepts,” said Arsh Mirmiran, a partner at CVP, in a press release. “By bringing in these pop-ups ahead of upcoming major renovations, the new merchants, expected to become mainstays in the redeveloped market, can meet their customers while driving additional business to the market as a whole.”
The new pop-ups include Smoke (a bbq place), Sundays (a donut shop), Cookie Dough and Co, Prescription Chicken (a soup joint), and Gertie’s Yummy Yogurt Bowls.
While these pop-ups are at the market you can also expect construction as well. The first phase of construction is expected to accelerate early next year and be completed by 2019.
First, the middle and exterior of the market will get fixed up, then the two ends of the market will get refurbished allowing merchants to remain open the entire time.
This all comes after merchants rallied to get help during the renovation to renew their leases and ensure they’ll have a spot in the renovated space.
Only three merchants have closed throughout the change. This includes Mondawmin Chicken, Tian’s Teriyaki, and The Flower Shop that moved to Ridgley St in Pigtown.
While some are moving, four merchants signed on to another two years at the market.
The market will be open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven days a week starting November 12.
The pop-up stores will be in place by late November.
