BALTIMORE — The House of Ruth Maryland officially opened a new facility Wednesday in North Baltimore.

Their new community engagement center is located on North Charles Street. The building will be a place to provide services for survivors of intimate partner violence and to educate the community about the work they do.

This is the first time in the non-profit's 40-year history that it's able to share the location of one of its facilities.

House of Ruth doesn't share the address of its other buildings for the safety of the people they help. The executive director believes having a center like this will help them in their mission to end intimate partner violence.

“The logo on our building really speaks as a beacon of hope to the community. The community knows us and the work that we do and now they know that they can come in and work with us,” said Sandi Timmins, Executive Director House of Ruth.

The building is also home to the House of Ruth Maryland’s discount retail store called Ruth’s repeats.
