Baltimore City has a new place for residents to buy fresh foods. The new farmers market and bazaar is called the Greenmount West Community Market, or Grow Market.
The market will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday until the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The Grow Market is located in the Open Works parking lot, at 1400 Greenmount Ave.
Customers will be able to purchase fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy, breads and coffee. Arts and crafts will be available from local artists and other vendors. Area chefs will prepare food for shoppers.
"Beyond shopping the Market, live entertainment, fitness and cooking demonstrations, and interactive and engaging family fun will be happening all summer long," said April Lewis, Open Works' membership manager.
Open works researched the type of items residents wanted as well as the best time and day for the market.
The Greenmount West neighborhood, Two Moons Food Group and Open Words are all working together to host the weekly farmers market and bazaar.
"Greenmount West is a thriving neighborhood that offers access to arts, a locally-owned café and roastery, entertainment, industrial fabrication equipment and tools, and affordable housing, but we know that residents need and want more," said Two Moons Food Group Co-founder Saché Jones.
"Through Grow Market, we will create a people-centered bustling local marketplace that connects farmers, producers, makers, artists and residents to one another for the mutual benefit of supporting small businesses and promoting community wellness and enhanced quality of life," added Two Moons Co-founder Myeasha Taylor. "We are excited to collaborate with our neighbors across Central Baltimore to bring the goods and services we all need and want."
