Phil the seal is recovering at the National Aquarium.
On Tuesday, April 11, the National Aquarium's Rescue Team admitted a harbor seal nicknamed Phil to the Aquarium's Animal Care Center for rehabilitation. He was stranded in Delaware.
Phil was being monitored as an out-of-habitat animal beginning in late November. He moved into a muddy area and started to show signs of declining health. He also appeared to be having difficulty moving and finding food.
The National Aquarium Animal Rescue worked alongside volunteers and people from the local Marine Education, Research and Rehabilitation Institute rescued Phil.
Phil is showing signs of improvement and the Aquarium team is hopeful he'll make a full recovery. He could soon be ready to be released back into the ocean.
