Mayor holds ceremonial signing for Port Covington project legislation

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake put her signature on three pieces of legislation moving forward with the redevelopment of Port Covington.

Sagamore Development has planned a $5.5 billion renovation of south Baltimore. The project includes a new headquarters for Under Armour, restaurants, shops, housing and manufacturing space.

The bills signed Wednesday include an agreement between the city and developer for more than $600 million in public financing that Sagamore Development will pay back.

In return, the company agrees to make room for affordable housing, to train and hire local workers and fund programs for city children.
