BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police said officers rescued a man Tuesday who tried to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge.
Officers responded to a call of a suicide attempt in the 1800 block of N. Howard Street, Tuesday afternoon. On the scene, they found a 26-year-old man on top of the Howard Street Bridge.
The Baltimore Police Crisis Response Team with help from a Baltimore City Fire Department ladder truck, climbed to the top of the bridge to talk to the man.
He told officers his plan was to jump and kill himself. Officers built a bond with the man, and he later agreed to come down from the bridge.
After he made it down from the trestle, he was taken to an area hospital to be evaluated.
