Police: Man dies from injuries after Southwest Baltimore fight

BALTIMORE — A 2019 death, after a fight in Southwest Baltimore, has now been ruled a homicide.

On September 14, 2019, around 1:10 a.m., Southwest district patrol officers headed Poplar Grove at Edmondson Avenue to look into a reported assault.

Once they arrived, officers found 66-year-old Howard Carlton Tyree, suffering from trauma to his face.

Witnesses told officers that the victim was involved in a physical altercation with an unidentified suspect.

Tyree was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

The victim’s body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.

On February 25, the Medical Examiner’s office released that the death of Howard Carlton Tyree has been officially ruled a homcide.
