Man charged with two armed robberies in Downtown Baltimore

A man is charged in two armed robberies in Downtown Baltimore that happened within 20 minutes of each other.

Kirby Payne, 38, was arrested on Thursday.

The first robbery happened on January 25 at 11:30 a.m. at a convenience store in the 400 block of N. Paca Street. Baltimore Police said the man walked around the store before approaching the counter. He pulled out a handgun, and announced a robbery.

Twenty minutes later police were called to the B-More Wholesale store in the 600 block of N. Eutaw Street. A man walked into the store and appeared to be shopping. He walked up to the counter with his merchandise and when it was time to pay he pulled out a gun and announced a robbery.

He left the store with cash. No one was hurt in either robbery.

Payne is being held at Central Booking.
