Hearing on medical marijuana lawsuit Friday

Posted

BALTIMORE (AP) - A Baltimore judge is scheduled to hold a hearing on a temporary court order that prevents more medical marijuana licenses to be awarded.

Baltimore Circuit Judge Barry Williams is holding the hearing Friday.

The Maryland Wholesale Medical Cannabis Trade Association is holding a "No More Delays" rally before the hearing. The group says Maryland patients have waited more than four years for access to medical cannabis.

Williams issued a temporary injunction at the request of Alternative Medicine Maryland, a company that was not chosen by a state commission as one of the 15 finalists to grow marijuana. The company contends the commission didn't consider racial diversity of applicants as set in law.

The temporary order preventing more licenses from being issued expires Sunday.
