Police officers are getting help to fight mental illness stigma from a celebrity.

Comedian and actor Guy RIchards gave a presentation Wednesday, giving his own personal experiences with bipolar disorder and mental health issues.

Richards' says he is hoping to inspire officers to recognize the difference between mental illness and drug-induced intoxication to make sure everyone gets the help they need.

"I hope I can inspire them and maybe bring some awareness to the officers. The do's and don't's when somebody is approached on the street or wherever it maybe," Richards said.

Richards' came out about his diagnosis of bipolar disorder and mental illness for the first time back in September in Baltimore.

He hopes to continue his seminars across the country.
