BALTIMORE — In Northeast Baltimore, ground has been broken on a new mixed-use development on the former site of Memorial Stadium.

The complex is called the Village Center at Stadium Place and will house 70 apartments, one and two bedroom units for seniors as well as office and retail space.

"They can come down stairs and go to the medical facility or, you know, get some food in the new commercial space, but then you also have the Y here in the blue print, so they can do their fitness," said Andrea Garris Jackson, President of Stadium Place Board. "Down the street you have the Waverly Farmer's Market. You have the Giant. So, this community is very convenient for senior living."

Work is expected to be completed by early 2021.
