Maryland's First Lady Yumi Hogan launched an art therapy program for children at the University of Maryland Children's Hospital.

The program brings complimentary art therapy services to pediatric patients and their families.

The program is the first of its kind for the Yumi C.A.R.E.S Foundation and represents Mrs. Hogan's passion for helping children in the hospital heal through art.

"There's got to be activity, not just sitting in their bed. So how can we get them up from there and they meet with other friends that are in the same situation," said Mrs. Hogan.

"They talk together, play together and for a moment they forget they are a patient, so that's what we try to do so they can stay strong."

The foundation hopes to expand this program to more hospitals in Maryland.
