Fire officials are investigating a vacant home explosion in West Baltimore

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Fire is investigating a house explosion in West Baltimore.

Fire officials said they received a call for an explosion just before 11:00 p.m., Thursday on the corner of N. Monroe Street and Westwood Avenue. When crews arrived, there was a heavy fire visible throughout the vacant, that extended to the next home.

The department said, neighbors told officials they heard an explosion.

Investigators believe this could have been a possible gas explosion.

According to the department, no one was in the vacant home and there's no reported injuries at this time.

BGE will shut off the gas in the vacant building It is unknown as to how many people will be without gas in the area.
