Baltimore City Fire Department investigators determine cause in 2-alarm fire at Lanvale Towers.
Investigators said that the fire was cause by an "improperly discarded cigarette material" found inside a trash shoot on the eighth floor.
City Fire Chief Niles R. Ford said, "It was unfortunate that the residents of Lanvale Towers were without a place to stay. Fortunately, no one was injured and everyone was able to escape safely."
More than 170 residents were displaced from high-rise apartment building on April 16.
The American Red Cross, Baltimore Housing and building management assisted in providing resources for all residents.
