60-70 residents had to evacuate their apartment building after a fire broke out late Saturday afternoon. According to the Baltimore Fire Department, officials responded around 5:15pm to the Lakeview Towers apartment building in the 700 block of Druid Park Lake Drive.
The Baltimore Police Department responded and assisted the fire department in evacuating the residents. Fire officials say the fire began from some construction materials in the parking lot and quickly spread of the back wall up to the fifth floor. Firefighters were able to isolate the fire to the outside rear of the building; there was minimal damage from smoke and water, a release says.
Fire officials say there were no civilian or firefighter injuries however three families are displaced. Neighborhood services responded to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but a release says police arson was called to assist fire investigators.
