Fire crews rescue man from apartment blaze

A 25-year-old man is in the hospital and eight families are displaced after a fire ripped through a southwest Baltimore apartment building Sunday morning.

Around 3:30 a.m. fire crews responded to 4909 Frederick Avenue for a report of a fire. When units arrived they found flames coming from a third floor apartment.

Firefighters rescued a 25-year-old man from the third floor. He was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

Additionally, eight families were displaced by the fire. Neighborhood services and the Red Cross are assisting.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
