BALTIMORE — Fighting the opioid epidemic through music, that was the purpose of Friday's nights Network of Doves' healing concert at New Shiloh Baptist Church.

Congressman Elijah Cummings was the honorary speaker, talking about how the $10 billion allocated by the federal government for three years wasn't enough. Cummings also spoke about his efforts through the Care Act to get treatment for people.

“It allocates money so the local organizations who have track records for doing a good job," said Rep. Cummings. "It also helps with paying for naloxone, that’s the antidote when someone’s having an overdose it brings them back to life.”

Jeff Majors founded the Network of Doves in 2013 to aid homeless and substance abuse affected men, women and families across the country.
