Natural gas can be a usable form of fuel, but it's also dangerous. BGE held a competition at schools in our area to see which one could create the best message about natural gas.
Fallstaff Elementary-Middle School in Baltimore City won BGE's "Captain Mercaptan" safety contest. BGE presented the students with the award and also gave a safety demonstration.
For winning the competition, the school receives $10,000 in prize money they will use for projects in the future.
"We need that money," said Claudette McLish, teacher at Fallstaff. "We are going to be doing something with our electronic computer lab. Getting more equipment for students to use, more interactive stuff to improve our teaching and learning experiences here at Fallstaff."
BGE gave out $35,000 to schools in the area as part of the contest.
