Elderly man dies in house fire in northeast Baltimore

Firefighters responded to a house fire in the 3300 block of The Alameda Monday night.

A two-story single family home had light smoke showing from the rear window of the second floor. Firefighters used ladders to gain entry into the home. They found the deceased man on the second floor of the home.

Units extinguished the fire that spread throughout the rest of the room where the deceased was found. No additional occupants were in the home at the time of the fire.

Homicide detectives and arson investigators were requested at the scene. According to police, the fire appears to have been set intentionally and detectives observed visible trauma to the victim's body.

The Baltimore Police Department is investigating the incident as a homicide.

No firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire and the cause of the man's death remain under investigation.
