Deray McKesson, a prominent Black Lives Matter activist and former Baltimore mayoral candidate, will retain his employment status with Baltimore City Schools, according to officials.
Earlier in the weekend, Baltimore City Schools CEO Sonja Santileses told reporters that protesting was part of what makes McKesson "who he is."

McKesson started his job as interim chief human capital officer for the school system July 1.
