BALTIMORE, Md. — Luckily, no one was hurt in a fire at Calverton Elementary Middle School in West Baltimore tonight.
Firefighters say when they got there around 6:30 p.m. Flames and smoke were coming out of the school. the school is vacant. They contained the fire to one large classroom where it started.
The two-alarm fire was put out quickly and without issues but crews stayed on the scene to catch any flareups.
"Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in under 30 minutes. They made an aggressive interior attack and they managed to get the fire knocked," said Blair Skinner, Baltimore Fire Public Information Officer.
No homes or nearby buildings were affected.
