Congressman Elijah Cummings is calling for a peaceful response no matter the verdict in trial of an officer charged in the death of Freddie Gray.

The judge is expected to announce a verdict in the case on Monday morning. Unrest and rioting broke out in the days after Gray's death in April 2015.

"Whatever may be Judge Barry William's decision will be to officer Nero's role in the death of Mr. Freddie Gray. That verdict will have much legitimacy as our society and justice system can provide," Cummings said.
