BALTIMORE — Commissioner Michael Harrison and Council President Brandon Scott met with the Baltimore City Police Department's newest academy class.
Monday was class 1903's first day of physical training.
Harrison and Scott thanked the trainees for choosing Baltimore and the police department.
"At a time when people are running away from danger, you've decided to run towards it," said Harrison. "At a time when people are saying, 'I'd rather do something else,' you said, 'this is what I want to do. Not only is this what I want to do, but I want to do it in Baltimore,' which speaks volumes for you because we are in the process now of being the greatest turn around city in the country."
There are 38 trainees. Harrison says he expects all 38 to graduate.
