Commissioner-Designate Darryl De Sousa addressed the media for the first time in three weeks on Friday.

The last time we heard from De Sousa was when Mayor Pugh introduced him as the Commissioner-Designate after Kevin Davis was fired. He has not spoken to the media since the Gun Trace Task Force trial started.

During the conference, De Sousa announced multiple changes coming to the department.

He said because of the Gun Trace Task Force Trial allegations, there will be random integrity tests, random polygraph tests for specialized units, and an overtime abuse unit.

De Sousa said he is going to keep his ears and door open and will continue to look for corruption within the department, and ended the conference speaking of his experience and his hope and want for reform.

He also said we can expect to see more changes coming to the department in the future.
