The city commission reviewing Confederate-era monuments has recommended the removal of two of them.
The group voted in favor of removing the Roger B. Taney monument in Mount Vernon and the Stonewall Jackson monument at Wyman Park Dell.
Controversy over such monuments began to brew last summer, following a racially motivated shooting at a Charleston, S.C. church. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake formed the commission to review all of the Confederate-era monuments in the city.
Commission member suggestions ranged from relocating, removing or just adding more context to all or some of the Confederate monuments.
