Controversy over such monuments began to brew last summer, following a racially motivated shooting at a Charleston, S.C. church. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake formed the commission to review all of the Confederate-era monuments in the city.

Commission member suggestions ranged from relocating, removing or just adding more context to all or some of the Confederate monuments.
