City firefighters were called to the scene of a 3-alarm warehouse fire in east Baltimore Wednesday.

Just after 10:30 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the 700 block of Greenmount for a reported fire.

Upon arrival, they located heavy smoke covering all sides of a one-story building.

Crews were unable to enter the building initially due to extreme heat and smoke conditions. Units pulled out for firefighter safety.

Officials said that fire began in the basement due to large amounts of flammable objects.

City Fire Department spokesman Sam Johnson is on the scene and said there are no injuries reported at this time.

There is a Special Operations Command at the scene assisting with a wall breach to help extinguish the contained fire. The police crime lab is also at the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
