Baltimore based “Chimes” is not your average warehouse.
In fact, worker Karen Haley specializes in helping men with disabilities learn how to be successful in the workplace by teaching them how to be good employees wherever they go.
Chimes is a non-profit that provides community services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Haley currently supervises seven men who have a range of disabilities. Each day, the group works on different tasks such as cutting foam for packaging, taking out trash and loading up trucks.
“Day to day it's exciting it's laughing it's fun the guys keep me going I really love coming to work just to see a smile on them,” Karen said.

The guys weren’t always receptive of Karen. Her boss recalls how she had to overcome one major hurdle when she first began working at the warehouse.
“I think at first it was difficult because they weren’t used to working with [a girl]," Lois said.
Co-workers say Karen drives the men to push their limits and think on their own.
In the 10 years she has been working at Chimes, Karen has received endless praises and accolades for her selfless work and caring personality.
“She’s an advocate for them she’s not one to go with the status quo,” Lois said.
If you ask Karen, she may argue the opposite.
"I really like dealing with special needs people and I have a weak heart like that for the guys and individuals, Karen said.
Whatever the case may be, it's safe to say Karen Haley is a true blessing to "Chimes" and the guys she helps.
