Child struck by car in east Baltimore

Police say a child was struck by a car late Wednesday afternoon in east Baltimore.

Paramedics were called to the 2600 block of East Chase Street, close to Luzerne Avenue Park, shortly before 4 p.m. for reports of a minor that was hit by a vehicle.

When crews arrived, they found a child who was struck by a car suffering from serious injuries.

The child, whose identity and age were not released, was transported to a nearby hospital, police said.

Officials say the incident was caused by pedestrian error and the driver stayed at the scene.

The child's condition was not immediately available.
