ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WMAR) — Maryland Governor Larry Hogan on Monday appointed Chanel A. Branch to represent District 45 in the Maryland House of Delegates.

The appointment was made based on the recommendation of the District 45 Baltimore City Democratic State Central Committee, which interviewed 13 other candidates.

Branch chairs and holds a vote in that committee.

The 45th District seat was formerly held by Cheryl Glenn, who recently stepped down amid federal wire fraud and bribery charges.

In her new position, Branch will sit alongside her father, Majority Whip Talmadge Branch, who's currently running to replace Elijah Cummings for Maryland's 7th Congressional District seat.
