BALTIMORE — Several restaurants in Baltimore's Canton neighborhood are temporarily closed after reports of at least one employee tested positive for COVID-19.

Restaurants impacted include The Chasseur, El Bufalo Tequila Bar & Kitchen and The Pig & Rooster Smokehouse. All locations alerted the public about their closure on Facebook Friday.

The Chausseur's post read in part, "While we have not had any of our employees test positive for COVID-19, we have for the time being decided to only use our outdoor seating."

El Bufalo posted, "Out of an abundance of caution, El Bufalo will be closed for a thorough, deep cleaning, sanitization and fogging. We have been notified a member of our team has tested positive for Covid 19. Please keep in mind, this closing is for the protection of our staff."

The restaurant did not give a reopening date but said it would update the public.

The Pig & Rooster said, "Due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19 we have decided to shutdown outdoor dining operations immediately and notify all of our valued customers. Our primary concern is the safety and health of our employees and patrons."

The restaurant plans to resume service Wednesday.

All locations have reportedly hired an outside cleaning crew to come in and sterilize.

"Our business has definitely ramped up," said Chris Brophy with Pure Eco Solutions.

The Fallston based company has been contracted by a number of restaurants in the area.

"We were doing this prior to COVID-19," he said. "But since COVID-19 we've been doing a lot of the bars and restaurants, specifically in Canton and just in the general Baltimore area."

The company was slated to clean at least four locations Monday.
